Tips and Reminders

Learning from previous Conferences, the following tips may help your delegation enjoy the Sports Events more, whilst staying safe.

  1. Warm Up Properly: Ensure all players warm up adequately before each game to prevent injuries and enhance performance.

  2. Know the Rules: Familiarise yourselves with the rules of each sport to ensure fair play and avoid misunderstandings during games.

  3. Stay Hydrated: Encourage players to drink plenty of water before, during, and after games to prevent dehydration, especially in warm weather. The venue will have water fountains for easy access to potable water.

  4. Use Proper Equipment: Make sure all players have appropriate footwear and attire for each sport to minimize the risk of injuries. For Volleyball knee pads are recommended.

  5. Respect Your Opponents: Treat opponents with respect and sportsmanship, regardless of the intensity of the game. Always encourage friendship over and above competition.

  6. Mindful Physical Contact: In Touch Footy and other contact sports, emphasise safe and controlled physical contact to prevent unnecessary injuries.

  7. Rotate Players Frequently: Rotate players regularly to prevent fatigue and ensure everyone gets a chance to participate fully and get more out of the Conference.

  8. Injury Awareness: Coordinators be aware of locations of First Aid Stations and First Aid Personnel. They will be made as visible and as accessible throughout the Conference.

  9. Have Fun: Ultimately, the goal is to have fun and enjoy the experience. Encourage a positive atmosphere where players can celebrate successes and learn from challenges. No one really remembers who one last time, but we remember all the fun we had participating and competing in Sports.
